Google Cloud expansion in AP
One of the key highlights of the CM’s engagements on Wednesday was the meeting with Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian. They discussed the potential for establishing a design centre in Visakhapatnam focused on developing proprietary chips used in servers. The CM invited Google Cloud to set up a manufacturing unit in the State to integrate its server supply chain, assuring full support from the Andhra Pradesh government. The State is eager to position itself as a global hub for server management services, leveraging its strategic location and advanced infrastructure.
Google Cloud, the third-largest cloud provider globally, already has two cloud regions in India — Delhi and Mumbai — and recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government.
This collaboration aims to create a ‘Data City’ in Visakhapatnam, advancing artificial intelligence (AI) applications and fostering local skill development.
Invites Petronas
CM Chandrababu also met with Muhammad Taufik, president and Group CEO of Petronas, a leading Malaysian oil and gas company. Petronas is planning a significant green energy expansion, aiming to produce five million tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2030. The company is considering investments of `13,000 to `15,000 crore in a green hydrogen and ammonia plant in Kakinada. The Chief Minister invited Petronas to expand its presence in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in Mulapeta, which is being developed as a petrochemical hub, and the proposed Global Capability Centre in the State.
Collaboration with PepsiCo
In a separate discussion with Eugene Willemsen, CEO of PepsiCo International Beverages, and Stephen Kehoe, chairman of PepsiCo Foundation, CM Chandrababu proposed transforming Visakhapatnam into a Global Delivery Centre and Digital Hub for PepsiCo. He also encouraged PepsiCo to support the Andhra Pradesh Community Natural Farming (APCNF) initiative, which would benefit local farmers through PepsiCo’s supply chain. Additionally, the CM suggested that PepsiCo consider setting up a Kurkure manufacturing unit in the State, a move that could stimulate industrial growth and create employment opportunities.
Engagement with Bahrain delegates
The CM’s engagement at the WEF also included a meeting with key officials from Bahrain, including Hamad Al Mahmeed from the Bahrain Prime Minister’s Office and Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat. During these discussions, the Chief Minister presented Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly policies and invited investments from Bahrain and stressed the State’s efficiency in facilitating business operations.
