AP bags third rank at National Water Awards-2022 Achievement is in Best State category

Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Chief Secretary to the government, has said that AP State has secured the third rank (joint winner) at the National Water Awards-2022 in the Best State category. He said that the Union Jal Shakti Ministry intimated about the rank through a letter. The Union Ministry of Water Resources, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation announced the fourth National Water Awards in various categories.

Secretary of Rejuvenation Department Pankaj Kumar has informed the State government that Andhra Pradesh State has secured the prestigious National Water Award for the second time. The CS said that following the directives of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Minister for Water Resources Ambati Rambabu, several reforms had been undertaken under the auspices of the Water Resources Department to conserve water resources within a specified period of time.

Dr Jawahar Reddy said that the State achieved the award by taking up programmes especially using water resources efficiently, increasing the capacity of surface and underground water resources and promoting irrigation practices with the participation of all. He explained that moreover, the State government had undertaken and completed various projects in the order of priority to get the award as a source of continuous monitoring with the aim of getting benefits quickly.

He added that the recipients of the fourth National Water Awards would be felicitated with trophies and citations at a ceremony to be held soon.
