The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce has expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the important announcements made on Tourism Day. In a release on Saturday, AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao and secretary B Raja Sekhar stated that granting industry status to the tourism sector is a significant move that the organisation has been advocating for over the past five years. This proactive step is expected to boost growth and attract investment in tourism, which is crucial for the State’s economy.
The Chambers also appreciated the Chief Minister for addressing their request to allow restaurants to remain open until midnight. This change is expected to improve the dining experience for both locals and tourists, contributing positively to Andhra Pradesh’s tourism landscape.
Looking ahead to the tourism policy announcement on October 15, the Chambers requested that it include an attractive beverage and liquor policy to appeal to both international and domestic tourists.
They also urged the government to focus on developing Buddhist circuits and to work towards securing World Heritage status for key sites such as Lepakshi, Gandikota Fort, and Belum Caves, to showcase Andhra Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage.
The Chambers further suggested a ‘Beach Shacks Policy’ covering the entire coastline from Srikakulam to Nellore, addressing issues like CRZ/CZMA regulations, beach cleanliness, waste disposal, and promoting responsible tourism practices.
The Chambers praised the government’s efforts to enhance tourism and look forward to continued cooperation for the state’s development.
