The Andhra Pradesh State Housing Company Limited (APSHCL) has taken a significant step towards bolstering its ambitious ‘Navaratnalu Pedalankri Illu’ housing scheme by forging a Memorandum of Agreement with the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Limited (APSEEDCO) during the G20 Summit in Goa. The agreement was signed and exchanged between Ajay Jain, Special Chief Secretary, Housing Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Vishal Kapoor, CEO of EESL, in the presence of more than 20 distinguished leaders, executives, and experts at both national and global levels.
The primary aim of this partnership is to provide top-quality, cost-effective, and energy-efficient appliances to the beneficiaries of the ‘Navaratnalu Pedalankri Illu’ housing scheme, setting a major milestone in the State’s development agenda. By offering energy-efficient appliances, including four LED bulbs, two LED tube lights, and two energy-efficient fans, at cost-effective prices, the A.P. State Housing Corporation Limited (APSHCL), with support from EESL, aims to not only reduce electricity bills for the beneficiaries but also enhance energy efficiency and contribute to environmental preservation.
Through this joint endeavour, it is estimated that each household could save up to 734 units of energy annually, amounting to an impressive total of 1145 Million Units (MU) per annum for the approximately 15.6 lakh houses under phase-1 of the housing scheme. The current collaboration with EESL in AP’s Housing Energy Efficiency Programme underscores the State’s commitment to strengthening energy efficiency while ensuring the highest quality electrical appliances.
Speaking at the occasion, Ajay Jain, the Special Chief Secretary of AP Housing, emphasized the government’s dedication to providing modern energy access to beneficiaries and improving their quality of life. The energy efficiency housing program not only promises to enhance thermal comfort and reduce energy consumption but also serves as a model for the entire country. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, envisions not just shelter, but a safe, decent, and affordable living space that upholds human dignity for all families. Andhra Pradesh’s energy efficiency housing program stands as the largest in the country and among the best in the world.
Ajay Jain remarked, “The Chief Minister is resolute in ensuring top-quality construction with state-of-the-art amenities. The CM has stressed the importance of maintaining superior quality in energy-efficient appliances, supported by EESL, to enhance durability, reduce electricity costs, and elevate the overall quality of life. We express our gratitude to EESL for actively assisting Andhra Pradesh in bolstering energy efficiency across different sectors, particularly in housing, which would greatly benefit the underprivileged.”
In response, Vishal Kapoor, CEO of EESL, highlighted the exchanged agreement as a symbol of hope and progress, reflecting the state’s commitment to creating a brighter, greener future for its citizens. As Andhra Pradesh leads the way in implementing energy-efficient solutions on a massive scale, it sends a powerful message to the world about the significance of sustainable practices in building a better tomorrow.
The program witnessed the participation of MD APSEEDCO Kumar Reddy and senior executives from EESL, including Venkatesh Diwedi, Animesh Mishra, Abhisekh Guptha, Nitin Bhutt, Savitri Sigh, and others.
This landmark collaboration between AP State Housing and EESL at the prestigious G20 Summit sets the stage for transformative changes in the housing sector, ensuring a brighter and energy-efficient future for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
