BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president Purandeswari has demanded that the State government release a White Paper on the loans taken by the government during the past four years. She said that till July, the State government had taken Rs 7,14,631 crore as loans.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, she said that a meeting of the NDA was held in Delhi the other day with the participation of 36 political parties. Meanwhile, parties of different ideologies met at a meeting held in Bengaluru. She criticised Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge saying that his aim was to defeat BJP rather than doing something for the nation and people still remembered the 1975 Emergency.
The BJP president said soon she would have a meeting with ally Jana Sena Party’s chief Pawan Kalyan. She made it clear that regarding the alliance with other political parties, the party would take a call at the right time.
She stated that she would have to strengthen the party from the grassroots-level for which she would tour all the zones of Andhra Pradesh and meet the leaders and party activists.
She pointed out that the AP government was in a neck-deep financial crisis and she would take the issue to the notice of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman. She stated that at the time of bifurcation, AP State was in Rs 97,000 crore debts and by the time TDP completed five years of rule, the debts piled up to Rs 3,62,370 crore. During the four years of YSRCP rule, the debts increased to Rs 7,14,631 crore. Officially, the YSRCP government took loans of Rs 2,39,716 crore, but unofficially it is Rs 4,74,315 crore, she alleged and said the government had diverted Gram Panchayat funds and even the State Disaster funds. The government was paying Rs 50,000 crore as interest, she added.
The BJP State president said the condition of roads in the State was pathetic. Despite posts on social media, there is no action from the government to address the issues.
She further said that two lakh cases were pending in the AP High Court. There are 11,348 contempt of court cases, which is 40 per cent of the cases in India. It is just a myth that the BJP government is supporting Jagan Mohan Reddy government, she added.
