The Andhra Pradesh Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2024 in New Delhi has garnered significant attention from investors and industry leaders, reinforcing the state’s growing presence in the textiles sector.
Leading the AP delegation, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles Rekha Rani, along with representatives from the AP Economic Development Board (EDB), held a series of high-level discussions with potential investors. The delegation highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly policies, robust infrastructure, and seamless transport and port connectivity, positioning the state as a prime destination for textile investments.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the AP Textile Apparel and Garments Policy 2024-29, which attracted strong investor interest. Rekha Rani emphasised that the state offers competitive subsidies and a business-friendly environment, making it an ideal location for the textile industry.
Investors from Karnataka have shown keen interest in setting up a Textile Park in Andhra Pradesh, recognising the state’s strategic advantages. Discussions were also held on establishing an Integrated Textile Park in Yemmiganur, Kurnool district, with a leading investor from the region. The proposed park is expected to enhance textile production and boost exports, positioning Kurnool as a key hub for the industry.
Rekha Rani also held talks with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to support handloom weavers and introduce them to global markets. The collaboration aims to promote innovative designs and market-driven products that align with international trends, benefiting traditional weaving communities.
Additionally, the AP delegation engaged with a Russian business delegation, facilitated by the Handlooms Export Promotion Council (HEPC), to explore export opportunities for the state’s handloom products. Discussions focused on identifying high-potential products for the Russian market, paving the way for stronger trade ties and increased global recognition for Andhra Pradesh’s textile sector.
Rekha Rani’s proactive efforts in attracting investments, fostering collaborations, and promoting innovation highlight Andhra Pradesh’s vision for sustainable growth in the textiles and handlooms.
