Andhra Pradesh power utilities have once again showcased their prowess on the national stage by securing two prestigious awards. In a review meeting with AP power utilities on Tuesday, Special Chief Secretary of Energy, K Vijayanand, commended APSLDC/APTRANSCO for clinching the SKOCH Semi-Finalist Order of Merit Award for the development of the Intra State Open Access Settlement (ISOA) application. Additionally, he congratulated NREDCAP for being honoured with the Business Connect Award as the Best Nodal Agency for their efforts in promoting Pumped Storage Power (PSP) projects.
Vijayanand stated, “Power developers have established numerous power plants in the AP state, supplying power to DISCOMs and open access users. However, the rapid increase in Open Access (OA) users has posed challenges in the timely settlement of monthly energy and demand. This has become a herculean task for the Nodal agency, particularly in cases where multiple OA consumers avail supply from different OA generators, affecting the billing process of DISCOMS to OA consumers.”
Further acknowledging NREDCAP’s achievement in receiving the prestigious Business Connect award under the “Best Nodal Agency for promoting Pumped Storage Power (PSP) projects,” Vijayanand emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s leading role in identifying potential sites for PSP projects. These projects offer significant promise in balancing Variable Renewable Energy generation and meeting peak power demand. He highlighted the preparation of Techno-Commercial Feasibility Reports (TCFR) for 39 probable locations with an aggregate potential of 44.79 GW and the ongoing preparation of Detailed Project Reports for the most viable locations in a phased manner. Vijayanand also noted the progress of the World’s largest Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project (IREPS) of 4280 MW capacity, located at Pinnapuram, Panyam Mandal, Nandyal District, which includes 1680 MW PSP, 2300 MW Solar, and 250 MW of Wind Power capacities.
Acknowledging the support of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and the guidance of Minister for Energy Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, Vijayanand credited the efforts of the power sector employees for the achievements of AP power utilities. He expressed confidence in achieving more awards in the future.
The meeting was attended by MD APGENCO & JMD APTRANSCO KVN Chakradhar Babu, NREDCAP VC & MD S Ramana Reddy, APTRANSCO JMD Vigilance & Security B Malla Reddy, Director Grid AKV Bhaskar, Director Finance T Veera Bhadra Reddy, and other senior officials.
