Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham president P Ramachandraiah and general secretary KVV Prasad have demanded that the government pay a compensation of Rs.50,000 for the food grains, Rs.75,000 for the commercial crops and Rs.1 lakh for the horticulture crops, which were damaged due to the untimely rains. For that, the Sangham will lay siege to the Chief Minister’s office on Friday, they said in a press release here.
They said that the State government should buy the rain-soaked and discoloured paddy, maize, jowar and other agricultural produce by giving exemptions to the rules for purchasing. Also, the government should pay minimum support prices for all these crops. Due to the delay in purchasing the crops, the farmers suffered huge losses, they said.
Agriculture, Revenue and Horticulture Department officials have not visited the farmers, they alleged. Though Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed to purchase rain-soaked and discoloured paddy, officials have not started the process so far, they added.
To resolve all these issues, AP Rythu Sangham will lay siege to the CM’s office on Friday and they appealed to the farmers to take part in the protest.
