Andhra Pradesh Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu announced that the State government is distributing pensions to over 63 lakh beneficiaries, allocating a budget of Rs 2,700 crore. Speaking at a pension distribution programme in Komira village, Gologonda mandal, Patrudu highlighted the government’s commitment to welfare and development.
“Villages are experiencing significant development under the current administration,” Patrudu remarked, emphasising the government’s efforts to enhance pensions and ensure timely disbursement despite financial constraints.
The Speaker assured beneficiaries that pensions would be distributed a day in advance if holidays occur, with the process completed by 1 PM. In Anakapalli district, pensions are being distributed to 2.58 lakh beneficiaries, amounting to Rs 107 crore. In Golugonda mandal alone, 8,498 beneficiaries are receiving pensions totalling Rs 3.53 crore.
Patrudu praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for introducing a policy providing immediate pensions to women after the death of their spouses. He expressed opposition to fraudulent pensions, reaffirming that only deserving individuals would receive benefits.
The Speaker announced funding for infrastructure projects in Komira village, including Rs 20 lakh for CC roads, Rs 8 lakh for a school retaining wall, and Rs 10 lakh for cemetery development. However, these projects are pending due to the absence of resolutions from the local sarpanch.
Patrudu criticised the previous government for leaving the state in debt, explaining how interest payments have constrained the current administration’s ability to undertake new initiatives. Over the last six months, Rs 7.11 crore have been allocated for 145 roads in Golugonda mandal. Ayyanna Patrudu assured residents that funding for the remaining projects would be approved by March 2024, highlighting the importance of transparency and efficiency in executing welfare schemes.
