In preparation for the nationally significant event, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary and Special Chief Secretary (Energy), K Vijayanand, conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements.
He emphasised the need for seamless coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the meeting, which is expected to help shape the future direction of power sector reforms in the country.
During the review meeting held on Monday, Vijayanand interacted with senior officials, including APTRANSCO JMD Kirthi Chekuri and APCPDCL CMD AKV Bhaskar, instructing them to ensure foolproof arrangements.
Highlighting the progress made by Andhra Pradesh in the power sector under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Vijayanand noted that the state was chosen as the host by the Ministry of Power in recognition of its reform initiatives.
The meeting, convened under the Ministry’s ‘Utility Reforms & Special Interventions’ initiative, will bring together Energy Ministers and Secretaries from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. Senior officials from the Power Finance Corporation and APCPDCL will also participate.
Discussions will centre on key issues such as regulatory reforms, restructuring of DISCOMs’ financial liabilities in line with state-specific needs, integration with broader power sector reforms, and the type of support to be extended by the Centre.
