AYUSH medical services — Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy — have entered a new phase of growth since 2014, and states must step up efforts to harness their full potential, said Andhra Pradesh Health and Medical Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. He was speaking at a national roundtable on AYUSH systems organised by the Union AYUSH Ministry in Pune.

The minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for consistently supporting AYUSH since 2014, resulting in notable progress. He said integrating traditional Indian and allopathic systems could lead to setting up integrated hospitals, meeting public health needs while promoting investment and medical tourism. Yadav cited Kerala’s success in promoting AYUSH and said Andhra Pradesh could benefit similarly. He added that the state government is currently focusing on attracting investment to establish integrated hospitals as medical tourism hubs.

The minister, however, criticised the previous YSRCP-led government for neglecting the AYUSH sector between 2019 and 2024.
