APCC chief seeks apology from BJP for calling Rahul ‘terrorist’

In response to the controversial comments against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, Rahul Gandhi, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila Reddy and party leaders staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Head Post Office at One Town in Vijayawada on Wednesday.
Recently, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu lashed out at Rahul Gandhi for the comments made during his visit to the USA. As per the directions from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), APCC organised a protest and sounded slogans against BJP and its leaders. Firstly, Sharmila paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Addressing the protesters, Sharmila criticised BJP for its statements against Rahul. “Today, the Andhra Pradesh Congress party protested in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue against the comments made against Rahul Gandhi. Is BJP scared of Rahul Gandhi today, as he is exposing that party not only in our country, but also abroad,” she asked.
She said the Union Minister and several BJP leaders have called Rahul Gandhi a terrorist. However, the people of the country know who the real terrorists are. BJP is a party that doesn’t even respect the Constitution of India. The party is scared because Rahul Gandhi is winning the hearts of the people of India, she said.
Further, she demanded an apology from Union Minister of State Railway, Food Processing and Industries Ravneet Singh Battu and other BJP leaders. She expressed doubt that BJP is trying to kill Rahul Gandhi. She also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amith Shah are behind all this.
Sharmila stated that the Congress played a crucial role in gaining independence and many leaders sacrificed their lives for the cause. The Congress worked a lot for the rights of people and treated all religions and casts equally. However, BJP is always speaking ill of the Congress party, she said.
“BJP called Rahul Gandhi a terrorist. But, his father Rajiv Gandhi and his grandmother Indira Gandhi were killed by terrorists. Doesn’t BJP know this?,” Sharmila said, adding that BJP is the Bharatiya Jute Party.
Former Central Minister JD Sheelam, APCC leaders Mastan Vali, Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao, and others were present.
