Andhra Pradesh Power Generating Company (APGENCO) is creating records in power generation. It is noteworthy that in the first four-and-a-half months of this financial year, the thermal units performed exceptionally well, while the Seeleru basin hydropower plants recorded maximum power generation last month.
APGENCO thermal units generated 10,108.196 million units of electricity from April 1 to August 18 midnight in the financial year 2022-23 while it supplied 12,994.987 million units during the same period of this financial year. 2,886.791 million units production was generated in just a four and a half months short period compared to last year. Overcoming the challenges, AP Genco has met the state’s power requirements at the maximum level.
APGENCO along with its subsidiary APPDCL operates thermal power plants with a total generating capacity of 5810 MW from three plants. It is noteworthy that these centers achieved a total average of 51.84 PLF till August 18 of the last financial year and it has increased to 66.61 percent during the same period of this year. Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) PLF increased from 64.10 to 72.43 percent during the same period of this year as compared to last financial year. Dr Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (Dr NTTPS) PLF has increased from 73.59 to 78.38 percent. Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station PLF increased from 27.46 percent to 53.98 percent.
KVN Chakradhar Babu, MD praised the efforts of the staff and officials to increase the power generation in the thermal units. He exhorted the staff to work with more dedication and make APGENCO the top sector in the country in all ways by increasing the rapidly developing technical skills at the international level. MD Chakradhar Babu said that due to the guidance of Special Chief Secretary of Energy Department K Vijayanand, State Minister of Energy, Forest Environment and Underground Mines Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, AP Genco is on the path of progress. He specially thanked the Chief Minister and the Minister for allocating large amounts of coal to the state and persuading them to talk to the central government and therefore they were able to generate electricity without interruption.
