Apologise for ‘betraying’ TG

Must read

In a scathing attack, Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has addressed an open letter to All India Congress Committee leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning the party’s achievements during its nearly year-long governance in the state. KTR accused the Congress-led administration of causing “unprecedented disruption and betraying the trust of the people”.
“Where is Rahul Gandhi, who once declared that he would come at a moment’s notice when called by the people of Telangana? Does he have the courage to
step out and meet the public now, beyond the confines of Gandhi Bhavan?” KTR asked, while demanding that Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the people of Telangana for what he called the betrayal of their trust through the unfulfilled “six guarantees and 420 promises made before the elections”.

KTR pointed out that within a year, the Congress government had driven various sections of society to protest on the streets. He accused the administration of failing the unemployed, students, farmers, Anganwadi workers, police personnel, and other communities, which had been staging daily protests. “No other government in history has pitted the police against their own, resulting in such chaos,” he remarked.

Highlighting unfulfilled election promises, KTR criticized the Congress for failing to deliver on key pledges, such as loan waivers for farmers and other welfare measures. “Despite claiming full loan waivers on social media, the reality is that only a fraction of farmers received any relief. The Congress has turned Telangana into a state defined by corruption,” he stated, alluding to issues such as the Musi project and dubious tax practices.
KTR challenged Rahul Gandhi to visit various affected groups, including farmers, students, weavers, and victims of the Musi project and HYDRAA operations. “Do you have the courage, Rahul Gandhi, to face those whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed under your government’s rule?” he questioned, citing widespread public discontent.

The letter also accused the Congress of hypocrisy in their national and state-level policies. “You criticize (industrialist Gautam) Adani at the national level but maintain alliances in Telangana. This two-faced approach has turned even shame into an embarrassment,” KTR said. He alleged that the Congress leadership’s failures were evident in its inability to fulfil promises or protect democratic values in the state.
KTR concluded by demanding accountability. “The people of Telangana deserve an apology for being misled and watching their state’s progress being derailed by corruption and broken promises. Rahul Gandhi, answer these questions and face the public you have failed,” the statement reads.
