Coming to know about the differences between the BRS and the Left parties, the CPI and the CPM, the Congress high command has approached the Left for an alliance.
The Congress high command directed its Telangana unit to approach the Left for an alliance in the Assembly elections, it is learnt.
It is also learnt that the newly appointed CWC member from the Telugu states has directed Telangana Congress leaders to approach Left leaders through a president of one of the small parties who has credibility with all political parties.
The Congress is confident that an alliance with the Left is possible as the CPI and the CPM are already with The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
CPI state Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said that the Congress had not yet approached them. When asked about an alliance with the Congress, Kunamneni said that they will take a decision at the State Executive Committee meetings on an alliance with the Congress or with any other party.
However, CPM State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram said that BRS Chief KCR might have distanced himself with the Left thinking that the Left is with INDIA which is fighting the BJP.
In fact, the Congress is the main party in INDIA and is fighting the BJP along with 25 other political parties including the CPI and the CPM.
A CPI leader told ‘The Pioneer’ that till now the Left decided to contest elections together. The Left is not against alliances with secular, anti-BJP parties, he said. However, he said that the CPI had a bitter experience with the Congress during the 2014 and 2018 elections.
The Congress must give clarity regarding its mistakes during the 2014 and 2018 elections and the Congress has to give a clear assurance regarding the alliance and has to stick to their word. But the Left will not approach the Congress. The Left will think of an alliance with the Congress only if it comes forward, he said.
In fact, the CPM had been keeping its distance from the Congress and what will happen this time can be known only after some time.
