APSRTC mulls running two Star Liner buses to TS

APSRTC NTR District Public Transport Department (PTD) authorities are planning to introduce two Star Liner Non-AC Sleeper bus services between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. The first Star Liner Non-Ac Sleeper service between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam is receiving positive feedback and so, the NTR PTD officers are proposing two new services from Vijayawada to Miyapur and Tiruvuru to Miyapur.

The NTR district RTC officers are planning to start these new services in January and the officers concerned are working in this regard. As per the request from bus commuters from the NTR district, the RTC officers have surveyed operating Star Liner Non-AC Sleeper services from Vijayawada to Hyderabad.

According to the sources, the first service from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam is being operated by a private agency and it has about 82 per cent occupancy rate (OR) every day. This service was started on November 28 and it is already attracting a lot of commuters, the sources said.

Likewise, the proposed services will also be operated by a private agency, the sources said. For that RTC authorities have called tenders and the entire process will be completed by December 31.

The Star Liner Non-AC Sleeper buses have 30 cushion soft berths facilitating charging ports, reading lamps, CC cameras, audio coach, air suspension and luggage racks,” said NTR district Public Transport Department (PTD) officer M Yesu Danam. The service has evoked a good response from the passengers, he said.

He said that the OR for Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam had been increasing gradually. Also, on the request from Hyderabad passengers, a survey was conducted to introduce new Star Liner services from Vijayawada to Miyapur (Hyderabad), he said.
