In view of the passengers’ rush during the Sankranti festival holidays, the APSRTC NTR district Public Transport Department (PTD) authorities will run 950 Special buses from Vijayawada and other places in the district to various long-distance destinations in the State. These special buses will be operating from January 10 to 18, said NTR district PTDO M Yesu Danam in a press release, here on Monday.
He said that students from the Rayalaseema districts studying in Vijayawada would go to their native places to celebrate Pongal. So, the RTC is going to operate 30 special buses from the PNBS, Vijayawada to Hindupur, Rayadurgam, Kadiri, Anantapur, Pulivendula Proddatur, Rayachoti, Kadapa, Jammalamadugu, Kurnool, Nandyal, Guntakal, and other Rayalaseema areas, he said.
Also, before and after the festival, special buses would be run from Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai and vice versa to come to native places and later go to those places. Special buses will also run from Vijayawada to Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Amalapuram, Annavaram, and Bhdrachalam, he added.
Similarly, he said that on January 10, 100 buses would be available to go to Hyderabad, Rajamahendravaram, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Chennai, Rayalaseema and other areas.
Meanwhile, 128 buses will be arranged on January 11, 162 on January 12, 160 on January 13, 61 on January 14, 12 buses on January 15, 131 on January 16, 127 on January 17 and 69 buses will be available on January 18, he said.
He made it clear that RTC has decided to collect normal charges for the special buses, but no additional charges would be collected. So, all passengers could utilize these special buses, he added.
He said that to supervise the special buses, RTC is going to post special officers at the PNBS and other bus stations around the clock.
