APSWRIS Joint Secretary nabbed in disproportionate assets case

The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted raids at the residences of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Institutions Society (APSWRIS) Joint Secretary Prasad Babu and his relatives simultaneously in a disproportionate assets case.

The ACB officials said that they had received complaints against KDVM Prasad Babu. The accused officer was serving as joint secretary of APSWRIS in Tadepalli of Guntur district. During the searches in his house and various other places, they found huge assets disproportionate to his source of income.

Prasad Babu, who worked as ITBP constable in Hyderabad in 1991, Head Constable in SPF, SI, and CI, joined as ATO in the Treasuries & Accounts Department in 2007 as a Group-I officer after clearing APPSC. Later, he worked as Assistant Director in the Treasury Office, ATO of Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana, Project Director (DRDA), Krishna, and Divisional Treasury Officer, Vijayawada. He also worked as SSA Project Director on deputation, and currently as Joint Secretary in APSWRIS.

The officials found assets worth crores that includes two plots in Eluru, two plots in Poranki, Vijayawada, two houses in Madhepalli, Eluru, G+2 house in Hyderabad, an open plot in Pamarru, Krishna district and 90 cents of land in Denduluru.

The officials also found three four-wheeler vehicles – a Skoda, a Maruthi Estiga and an Innova –a Bullet, Activa Electric, Activa 5G, electronic gadgets, 500 grams gold ornaments and Rs 30,000 cash in his possession.
