Aqua farmers staged a dharna at the 220 KV sub-station in Undi demanding that the government solve their problems. A large number of aqua farmers led by Undi Telugu Desam party MLA Ramaraju tried to lay siege to the sub-station. A jostle took place between the police and TDP activists leading to a tense situation for some time.
The police said that the TDP leaders did not take permission to organise a protest programme. Addressing the crowd, former minister and district TDP in-charge Prathipati Pulla Rao assured to stand by the aqua farmers.
“if the TDP is voted to power, power subsidies will be given to the aqua farmers. Prawn seeds will also be given at a cheaper price. The feed will also be supplied at an affordable price to the aqua farmers”, Pulla Rao assured.
The TDP leader said that the aqua farmers led by the TDP leader would lay siege to the Fisheries office in Vijayawada on November 18. TDP district president Thota Sita Ramalakshmi, MLAs Mantana Ramaraju, Nimmala Ramanaidu, MLC Angana Ramaohan Rao, and former minister Yenaala Ramakrishnudu, Kollu Ravindra, Nimmakayala Chiarajappa and Pitala Sujata and another leader among those who participated in the programme.
