Aqua farmers to form cooperative societies

Krishna District Collector DK Balaji has suggested that aqua farmers form cooperative societies to benefit from the State government. The State government is giving top priority to aqua culture and is supporting cultivators in exporting aqua products, he said.
Collector Balaji visited the Harshith Aqua Tech Company at Chinnagollapalem of Kruthivennu mandal in the Krishna district on Wednesday. He inspected the production of the prawn and fish seeds and spoke to the farmers regarding the use of feed, medicines, and other details.
In this connection, the local fishermen met the collector under his leadership and explained their problems. During the meeting with the Collector, fishermen expressed their concerns about the sea mouth being filled with silt, which resulted in decreased incomes for them. They asked for dredging to enhance their livelihood and requested the Collector to release compensation for the time fishing ban period.
Speaking on the occasion, Balaji said that the government would release compensation for the fishermen for the recent fishing banning period in the sea. He instructed the fisheries department officials to take steps to distribute nets, ice boxes, aerators, and other necessary items to fishermen.
Later, Collector Balaji inspected the cultivation of Vannamei Prawn at Garisapudi and also visited the Fish Caze Culture at the Garisapudi Under Tunnel.
Fisheries Joint Director A Chandrasekhar, Assistant Director Naga Babu, Tahsildar KGN Someswara Rao, MPDO Madhusudana Rao, and others were present.
