Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council chairman K Moshen Raju and AP Legislative Assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram unfurled the tricolor flags at various programmes on the occasion of 77th Independence Day on the state assembly premises on Tuesday. Later they received the ceremonial guard of honour and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and wished the people of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Independence Day.

On the occasion, Legislative Council chairman Moshen Raju said that only with the sacrifice of many great freedom fighters would we be celebrating Independence Day today. He said that independence was achieved with the aim to have unity in diversity regardless of caste, religion, region, language and culture. Even though the country is developing comprehensively in all fields, it is very unfortunate that many incidents are taking place in society. He expressed his concern that the incidents that took place in the country, which undermined the spirit of the Indian Constitution written by Dr BR Ambedkar and violated the freedom and rights of women, will remain an indelible mark in the history of the country.

Similarly, he appreciated that the governance of the state under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is going well in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution and wished that all the people of the state are living a good and peaceful life in a free environment.

Speaker Tammineni Sitaram said that with the aim of providing the fruits of freedom to all the poor people of the state, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has designed many innovative welfare schemes and has been implementing them across the state. He praised that the Chief Minister of the state is taking the welfare schemes directly to the doorstep of the poor by setting up the village/ ward secretariat system with the aim of eradicating poverty, illiteracy and unemployment in the state and providing quality living standards to the poor.
