Atchannaidu assures steps to solve problems of fishermen

Must read

State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries K Atchannaidu, during the question and answer session on the third day of the Assembly sessions on Wednesday, stated that the previous YSRCP government has made the lives of fishermen difficult with their wicked decisions. They depend on fishing, which is their caste-based occupation, for a living, he said.
He said that having a long coastline is a good opportunity for the fishermen in the State. There are 3,325 small-scale irrigation ponds, 23,920 gram panchayat ponds and 118 reservoirs across the State. The Minister said that the late NT Rama Rao gave these ponds to fishermen’s societies so that their lives will develop. However, the previous YSRCP government brought GIO 217 and handed over these ponds to YSRCP activists through online tenders, which was a big setback to the fishermen community.
The Minister said that the previous government took various measures that severely impacted those caste-based workers. Minister Atchannaidu added that the alliance government has taken a decision to cancel GO 217 brought by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and to initiate special measures to solve the problems of the fishermen.
