State Govt mulls introduction of free bus travel facility for women
Minister for Agriculture, Marketing and Fisheries Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has emphasised the commitment of the administration under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership to align with the aspirations of the people. On Monday, Achchennaidu inaugurated Anna Canteens in Tekkali and Kotabommali, while also flagging off three newly acquired RTC buses in Tekkali.
The Minister personally served meals at the Anna Canteens and took a short ride on the newly launched RTC buses. “These Anna Canteens are a step towards ensuring food security for the needy. It gives me immense pleasure to launch this initiative on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishnashtami,” said Atchannaidu.
The canteens, which provide lunch to 400 people in Kotabommali and 300 people in Tekkali daily at a nominal cost of Rs. 5, will soon offer breakfast and dinner as well.
Addressing the gathering, Atchannaidu shared that the State government is exploring the introduction of free bus travel facilities for women, similar to those implemented in Karnataka and Telangana. “Our team has closely studied these initiatives, and I assure you that we will soon provide similar free bus travel facilities to women in our State,” he announced.
The Minister also took the opportunity to highlight the challenges inherited from the previous administration. “The former government left us with a staggering debt of Rs13 lakh crore, and despite the limited resources, we are determined to implement every promise we made. Initiatives such as increasing pensions and launching Anna Canteens are just the beginning,” Atchannaidu stated. He also reassured the public that transparency would be the hallmark of his administration. “Transfers within the district will be conducted transparently. I urge everyone not to resort to brokers. Justice will be delivered to all.”
Atchannaidu also outlined his plans to engage directly with the people. “I am committed to personally visiting the villages in my constituency, taking requests from the people, and addressing their issues by going to every street. We are here to serve, and we will ensure that the people’s voices are heard,” he affirmed.
