To bolster public awareness efforts, the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) inaugurated the ‘Atom on Wheels’ exhibition campaign at the Government College for Women, Srikakulam. The initiative was launched by Principal N Krishnaveni in the presence of Ravi Kumar Balla from NPCIL’s Kovvada Project and Amritesh Srivastava, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Communications, NPCIL, Mumbai.
The campaign, part of NPCIL’s pan-India awareness drive, aims to educate the public on the benefits and societal uses of nuclear energy while highlighting the safety measures in the operation of nuclear power plants.
Addressing the gathering, Amritesh Srivastava briefed students about key aspects of nuclear power, including radiation, nuclear waste management, and defence-in-depth strategies. He also explained the process of generating electricity through various sources, particularly nuclear power, emphasising its clean, green, and sustainable nature.
Principal N Krishnaveni lauded NPCIL’s efforts to raise awareness about nuclear energy among the residents of Srikakulam and surrounding areas.
The exhibition will travel to nearly 250 villages over the next four months, educating locals, students, youth, and Panchayat members through animated films, banners, and posters. Designed to present complex information only, the campaign seeks to foster a better understanding of nuclear energy’s role in a sustainable future.
