YSRCP senior leader and former minister RK Roja expressed her shock over the tragic rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in AM Puram village, located in the Vadamulapet mandal of Nagari constituency.
Accompanied by former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, RK Roja visited the Government Hospital in Puttur to console the grieving family. Speaking to the media afterward, she criticized the State Government for failing to ensure the safety of women.
“In the past four months alone, more than 100 crimes against women, including rapes, murders, and assaults, have been reported in Andhra Pradesh. The rise in violence against women is a result of the government’s ineptitude. The government must take strict measures to combat this violence,” she insisted.
She pointed out that this incident marks the second heinous crime to occur in the Chief Minister’s own district. She demanded that the government provide an ex gratia payment of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved family.
RK Roja also claimed that the parents and relatives of the deceased girl managed to apprehend the accused, Sushant, and handed him over to the police. The former Minister criticized the Naidu-led government for allowing the establishment of liquor shops, stating that these establishments have proliferated throughout the state.
She called on the government to regulate the liquor shops more effectively. RK Roja also made strong comments against Chandrababu Naidu, Home Minister V. Anitha, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, asserting that many crimes are committed under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
