To increase the poll percentage in the city for Lok Sabha, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will establish 180 thematic polling stations in Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliament constituencies including Secunderabad cantonment assembly segment. The polling stations will be set up to attract the voters.
A total of 12 thematic polling stations will be set up in every Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. A total of 180 thematic polling stations will be set up in 15 Assembly constituencies.
These thematic establishments aim at motivating voters to exercise their franchise.
According to the official information, there were 75 polling stations managed exclusively by women, 15 stations by persons with disabilities (PWDs), and 15 stations by youngsters.
Every single staff member was female in the 75 polling stations, which will be managed by women. And the PWD polling booths will be managed by differently-abled persons. 15 polling stations will be managed by young people.
Only 46.68 per cent voting was recorded in the 15 Assembly segments of Hyderabad district in the 2023 Assembly elections. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 53.27 per cent voting was recorded in Hyderabad constituency and 53.06 per cent in Secunderabad constituency. While in the last 2019 parliamentary elections, only 39.49 per cent voting was recorded in the Hyderabad constituency and 44.99 percent in Secunderabad constituency.
