Bhim Army chief Chandrasekhar Azad visited the 125-foot Ambedkar statue along with MLC Kavitha. Both paid tributes to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Amar Jyothi.
Chandrasekhar Azad demanded that Ambedkar’s statue should be installed in the new Parliament building.
Kavitha said that the people of Telangana will back Chandrashekhar Azad’s demand to name the new Parliament Building after Dr BR Ambedkar and also to install his statue on Parliament House premises.
Chandrasekhar Azad, who is in the city for a two-day visit, paid a courtesy call on Kavitha and had a meeting for about an hour. Both leaders discussed their political policies and the programmes being undertaken by the state government for the Bahujans and Dalits in Telangana.
Azad had special praise for the State government’s ambitious scheme Dalit Bandhu.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha thanked Chandrasekhar Azad who accepted the invitation and came on a two-day visit to see the 125-feet statue of Ambedkar erected by the Telangana government and to meet Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Kavitha said that she felt happy when Chandrasekhar Azad said that while everyone in the country was making people forget history, KCR was trying to protect the history of Telangana.
She made it clear that the people of Telangana will support Azad’s struggle for backward communities.
