Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader and ex-MLA Damacharla Janardhan has alleged that the YSRCP MLA and former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy did not do anything for the welfare of Muslims and dared an open debate on the issue.
A meeting was organized here in which over 300 Muslims joined the TDP in the presence of Damacharla Janardhan and other TDP leaders on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Damacharla Janardhan said that Balineni has been elected to the Assembly five times and he was the minister for two terms. However, he did not do anything for the welfare of Muslims during his tenure.
Damacharla dared Balineni Srinivasulu Reddy for an open debate in the presence of Muslim elders on the issue of what he had done for the welfare of Muslims.
Damacharla Janardhan, who is also TDP state vice president, regretted that permission was not granted when they wanted to organize the meeting in the Islampet community hall. However they organized the meeting without fearing anybody, he claimed.
“During the TDP regime, loans were extended through the Minority Finance Corporation to eligible Muslims. Ranjan Thofa was given for festivals and many welfare schemes were implemented for the Muslims. Dulhan scheme was also implemented and Shadikhana, Muslim community halls were constructed,” Damacharla claimed.
Damacharla Janardhan assured the Muslims of extending any kind of help they needed and asked them to meet him to get their grievances resolved, adding that he would always be accessible to them.
Damacharla also strongly objected to the Commissioner’s insistence that money would be refunded to those who were not allocated G+2 houses, only after Balinie Srinivasa Reddy signed the relevant documents. The TDP ex-MLA dismissed allegations that he was involved in the demolition of shops in the 24th division. He recalled that after the demolition of shops, he rushed there and infused the victims with courage, and assured them of his support.
Damacharla promised the Muslims to allocate land for the second burial ground if the TDP is voted to power. Moulana Abid, former municipal chairman Mantri Srinivasa Rao, ex-chairman of AMC Kamepalli Srinivasa Rao, and Kotari Nageswara Rao were among them who participated in the programme.
