Bandi demands clearance of pending bills to sarpanches

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday voiced his concern over the pending bills of former sarpanches in the state, which have been causing them significant difficulties. He urged the state government to release funds to clear the pending bills for the developmental works executed by the sarpanches in their panchayat limits by spending personal money and through loans secured from private moneylenders.
He emphasised the need for a united effort towards development, setting aside political differences and agendas. He assured that the Central government is offering full support for the State’s progress and highlighted the cooperation among leaders and public representatives across all political parties in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency to focus on development.
Sanjay Kumar made these remarks during the inauguration of a function hall and shopping complex in Bejjanki Mandal, which was built at a cost of Rs 3 crore.
Speaking at the event, he said, “In the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, we will all work together, regardless of political affiliation. Development is our primary goal. The time for conflict is over..”
He also highlighted the various welfare initiatives being implemented by the central government. “Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rs 6,000 is transferred annually to the accounts of 30 lakh farmers in Telangana. Additionally, we have ensured an uninterrupted supply of urea, with the Modi government providing nearly Rs 30,000 crore in subsidies for fertilizers in Telangana, including a subsidy of Rs 2,236 per urea bag. We have also facilitated the establishment of a urea plant in Ramagundam and introduced nano urea packets to replace traditional urea bags.”
Furthermore, Sanjay Kumar addressed the issue of pending bills for former sarpanches. “Across the state, there are 12,769 former sarpanches with pending bills totalling nearly Rs 1,300 crore. These bills, ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 1 crore, are for developmental works. However, it is unfair to delay payment for their hard work. I urge the state government to release funds immediately and address their concerns.”
