The Telangana Backward Classes Commission continued its public hearing for the second consecutive day, examining requests to reinstate 26 castes omitted from the Telangana BC list after the state’s formation.

The session, held from 11 am to 5 pm, saw the participation of several commission members, including the Chairman, G. Niranjan, along with other officials.

During the proceedings, the commission reviewed 56 representations, with delegations from Gavara, Turpukapu (Gajulakapu), Settibalija, Nagavamsam, and Koppulavelama presenting their case for inclusion.

Prominent political figures, including Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Paka Venkata Satyanarayana and AP Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash, advocated for Setti Balija’s inclusion. Meanwhile, representatives from the Telangana BC ‘A’ group urged the commission to uphold the exclusions.

The public hearing will continue on Wednesday at the commission office, as officials deliberate on the appeals and their potential impact on Telangana’s BC categorisation.
