BC Commission to conduct hearings

The BC Commission launched its operations on Monday with a meeting at its office in Khairatabad. The Commission discussed the further course of action in line with the orders issued by the Telangana Government on October 9 outlining the terms of reference for the Commission’s work.
Planning Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania attended the meeting as a special invitee and briefed the Commission on preparations for the caste survey.
The Commission has decided to conduct the survey under its supervision in coordination with the Planning Department as per the government’s directives.
One of the Commission’s key responsibilities is to determine the percentage of reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies. The Commission will tour the entire state and hold public hearings at the old 10 district headquarters to decide this.
It was agreed in principle to start this tour on October 24. A notification regarding the public hearings will be issued soon. The Commission has also resolved to seek opinions from various sections of society and will convene a consultation meeting with intellectuals from the Backward Classes as part of this initiative.
