Aithagoni Janardhan Goud, president of the Backward Classes Student Association of Nalgonda district, has emphasised the need arresting the declining standards in the Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU). He appealed to the MGU Vice-Chancellor to take steps to improve the standards in the university.
Speaking at a media conference here on Monday at the BC Student Association’s district office, Goud highlighted significant achievements made by the university during 2016- 2019. “During that period, the university made important strides in improving its standards. However, since then, we have seen a noticeable decline,” he stated.
While congratulating the new Vice-Chancellor, Goud stressed the importance of addressing the ongoing issues within the university. “This is a positive development, but there are numerous existing problems that need urgent attention,” he emphasised.
He mentioned that the audit cell and examination branches need to follow university guidelines, stating, “Due to these issues, students’ rights are being significantly compromised.” He also pointed out that “there are indications of various problems arising, and thus, we urge for the establishment of a complaint box.” Additionally, Goud noted that several private colleges in the district have been operating in violation of government regulations, despite multiple complaints filed by the association. “It appears that the university authorities have not adequately responded to our complaints,” he added.
In light of these issues, the BC Student Association is calling for the appointment of a new, full-time Registrar to ensure effective administration and accountability. “This is crucial for achieving proper governance,” he stated. “If our complaints are not re-verified by the university, we will be compelled to stage a protest in front of the university.”
