East Godavari District Collector P Prashanthi has directed officials to take steps to enhance the beauty of parks in the city, making them more attractive to residents and tourists.
Chairing a review meeting at the District Collector’s Camp Office, along with Municipal Commissioner Ketana Garg, the Collector assessed the draft PPT for the development of 26 parks and ‘Nagaravanam’ under the Seven Hills Associates.
She emphasised that parks should be designed innovatively, moving away from conventional layouts, and incorporating unique themes. She instructed that all developmental works be completed ahead of the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu.
Highlighting the importance of uniqueness, the Collector pointed out that parks have already been developed in areas such as Kambala Cheruvu Park, Danavai Peta, Prakash Nagar, JN Road, and AV Apparao Road. She stressed the need to enhance them with more value-based elements.
She further instructed officials that parks should not be limited to relaxation spaces and children’s play areas. Instead, she proposed the creation of theme-based parks focusing on diverse activities such as games, gym facilities, yoga, dance, medicinal plants, music, rock gardens, physical exercise, sports, water shows, adventure sports, floral arrangements, bird sanctuaries, and artistic structures made from waste, reflecting the culture and traditions of the region.
Later, the Collector reviewed the progress of tourism and horticulture projects, particularly focusing on enhancing tourist attractions in the Kadiyam nursery region.
She noted that Kadiyam has already gained recognition as a prominent tourist destination. The nurseries in the area have been developed as a special attraction through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, and discussions have been initiated with nursery representatives to further boost tourism.
Suggestions were made to develop a route map integrating boating, stalls, zip-lining, and adventure sports to make Kadiyam nurseries even more appealing to visitors.
Officials presented the proposed layout for stalls and boating facilities. Municipal Commissioner Ketana Garg urged officials to explore innovative ideas for enhancing the parks’ aesthetic appeal.
