The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of the Ministry of Power has appointed A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy from AP as the nodal officer for south India for the Union government’s prestigious LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Mission.
The latest decision of BEE for engaging regional media advisors for both northern and southern India has gained significance as Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launched the LiFE movement after he had advanced the idea of LiFE at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 and attracted all advanced countries throughout the globe. For north India, BEE has engaged Ashok Kumar Shrivastava from UP as the regional nodal officer.
Headquartered in Hyderabad, Chandra Sekhara Reddy’s core responsibility involves supporting State-designated agencies (SDAs) across the southern States Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Reddy says that this entails collaborative efforts with these agencies, State government bodies, and Power Utilities to establish measurable and sustainable energy-efficiency goals.
He explained that BEE’s keen focus on Andhra Pradesh and other southern States’ diverse industries and global corporations signified an opportunity for the State to champion advancements in energy efficiency. Chandra Sekhara Reddy earlier worked as Special PRO to Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy and during Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, he served as ED of AP Transco and the CEO of APSECM and MD of APSEEDCO.
