With summer heat increasing, the sale of beer has also broken all records. Between May 1 and 18, 4.23 crore bottles of beer were sold in the state. The revenue from the sale of beer alone is Rs 582.99 crore.
Beer sales is likely to increase in the next two weeks. Excise officials estimate that the sale of beer will cross Rs 1,000 crore by the end of May.
Excise officials said that from May 1 to 18, 35,25,247 bottles of beer were sold through 19 depots. In these 18 days, Nalgonda district topped in beer sales, while Karimnagar district came second. It is noteworthy that 300,364 cartons of beer worth Rs 48.14 crore were sold in Nalgonda district.
An average of 23,50,164 beer bottles were sold per day. As per this calculation, 4,23,02,964 beer bottles were purchased by liquor lovers in 18 days.
Ranga Reddy district ranks first in liquor sales. In this district, 1,20,334 cartons of liquor costing Rs 78.42 crore were sold. Nalgonda district comes second. Overall, in these 18 days, the government earned Rs 904.47 crore through liquor sales.
From April 1 to 17, 1,01,54,100 bottles of beer were sold in the GHMC area. Liquor lovers consumed an average of 6 lakh bottles of beer per day. In these 17 days, 8,46,175 beer cartons were sold in the GHMC area.
