The Bharatmala Pariyojana was approved by the Centre in 2017 and it extends to around 34,800 km. Out of the total length of 34,800 km, 1,728 km is in Telangana. Of the 1,728 km, work on 1,056 km has been awarded already while contracts on 672 km are pending.
Replying to a question in the LS Nitin Gadkari said, “In Telangana, the length of Bharatmala Pariyojana roads whose contracts have been awarded is 1,056 km and the cost is Rs 21,323 crore. The length of roads under Bharatmala Pariyojana in the TS which is yet to be approved is 672 km involving an outlay of Rs 1,728 crore.”
Nearly seven road projects extending 209.732 km are being executed at a sanctioned cost of Rs 6,607.61 crore and the expenditure in Telangana is Rs 735.01 crore.
Work on around 80 km of roads involving a sanctioned outlay of Rs 2,688.46 crore is pending. An expenditure of Rs 279.71 crore has been incurred so far on the project.
The remaining length of roads in TS for which contracts have not been awarded in FY 2022-23 is 104.866 km involving an outlay of Rs 3,420 crore. An expense of Rs 19.92 crore has been incurred so far on this.
As per data tabled in Parliament, the total length of NHs is 2,660.989 km built at a cost of Rs 15,259.85 crore under various schemes including the Bharatmala Pariyojana of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The southern part of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road to Hyderabad extending 189 km and the Bellampalli–TS/MH border in Telangana measuring 65 km comes to 2,915 km and is expected to cost Rs 15,263.99 crore.
