Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said that given its benefits special attention should be paid to renewable electricity, keeping in mind the changing conditions, the financial assistance received from the Centre and other organisations.
On Friday, the Deputy CM conducted a review meeting with officials of TS Redco on renewable electricity generation at the Praja Bhavan. He directed officials to focus on renewable sources of energy to generate pollution-free electricity.
He said that open spaces, government offices and reservoirs should be identified and proposals should be prepared immediately to increase renewable electricity generation.
He said that all departments required for green power production will be made partners and a review will be done soon.
The state suffered serious losses due to the lack of a renewable electricity policy in the state in the last five years, Bhatti said.
He said that due to the lack of a special policy, we have not been able to use Central funds and that we have not been able to reduce pollution.
Bhatti said he recognized the changes in the field of renewable electricity generation all over the world and ordered them to be implemented in the state.
He inquired about the potential for wind power generation in the state and details of current production in this sector.
The review meeting also discussed the revenue collected for the government and electricity companies from the charging stations established in electricity substations, the difficulties of setting up charging stations in other substations of the state and the steps to be taken to remove them.
In the state, it was decided to install solar rooftop panels in 1521 schools under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi. He asked officials to find out how many of these schools had completed solar roof top work so far and how much electricity was being generated.
He also inquired about the functioning of solar rooftop panels installed in social welfare institutions and analysed the reasons for the lack of progress in projects for floating solar power generation in large and medium-sized reservoirs.
Bhatti ordered to speed up floating solar power generation in coordination with officials of the irrigation department.
He asked officials to explore the PM Jana Jati Adivasi Solar Project introduced by the Centre to give a helping hand to tribals and the benefits for tribals as a result of implementing the project in the state.
