The ‘Bhavani Deeksha Viramana’ at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada will take place from December 21 to 25, drawing a large number of devotees. NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha chaired a coordination meeting for the event preparations on Wednesday.
Following this, the temple’s Executive Officer (EO) KS Rama Rao conducted a final review meeting on Thursday at the Mallikharjuna Maha Mandapam to ensure everything was in place. Officials from various departments attended the meeting, including Engineering, IT, Security, and Sanitation.
The discussions focused on infrastructure, technology deployment, security measures, and sanitation arrangements. The temple administration is working diligently to provide a smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience for all attendees.
EO Rama Rao stated that approximately 6 lakh devotees are expected over the five days. He instructed officials to ensure that adequate amenities and efficient crowd management were in place. Drawing from past experiences, the temple authorities are making improved arrangements for the devotees, he added.
Rama Rao further mentioned that the construction of queue lines from the Vinayaka temple to Om turning uphill had been completed. Additionally, sheds for the comfort of the devotees, illumination around the temple, sound systems, Irumudi Viramana points, Homa Gundam, Holding Points, Tonsuring Centres, and other necessary arrangements had also been finalised.
He assured that the temple aims to offer a hassle-free darshan experience for all devotees during these five days. It was clarified that there would be no Arjitha Sevas or Antharalaya Darshanam during this period. The review meeting also covered the arrangements for Giri Pradakshina and other related rituals.
Meanwhile, EO Rama Rao announced that on December 21, the first day of the Bhavani Deeksha Relinquishment, devotees will be allowed darshan of Goddess Durga Devi at 6.30 am. On the remaining four days, darshan will be available from 3 a.m. to 11 p.m. Additionally, he mentioned that besides the Prasadam counters at Kanaka Durga Nagar, two counters at PNBS and the Railway Station will operate on three shifts.
Durga Temple Deputy EO M Ratna Raju, Executive Engineers KVS Koteswara Rao, T. Vykunta Rao, Vaidic Committee Members, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
