As Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD prepares for its highly anticipated release, excitement surrounding the film is very high. The makers are promoting the movie on a grand scale, promising audiences a mesmerising dive into a futuristic dystopia. Adding to the buzz, the film’s producers have launched an intriguing promotional series titled Kalki 2898 AD Chronicles. This series features an intimate conversation with the entire star-studded cast alongside producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, offering fans an exclusive peek behind the scenes of this ambitious cinematic endeavour.
In a recent video release, veteran megastar Amitabh Bachchan brought his trademark wit to the fore, jokingly recalling his initial skepticism about the film’s concept. He jokingly said, “When Nagi approached me, he showed this concept art of my character and Prabhas’, and I was this giant figure overshadowing ‘the Prabhas’. To all the fans of Prabhas, please forgive me; I apologise sincerely.. Please don’t criticise me after seeing what I do in the film.”
Bachchan also shared insights into the challenges of working with extensive prosthetic makeup. “During the first trial, I had to wear makeup and prosthetics and I was saying, ‘Oh God, another prosthetic film.’ I had already done two before this. It’s very painful. But the three hours it used to take to put on the prosthetics and another hour and a-half to take them off, it was all worth it.”
Reflecting on the camaraderie among the ensemble cast, Bachchan fondly recounted humorous anecdotes from the set: “I remember one incident with Prabhas and his sister; she used to boss him around when they were young. I joked with her, ‘Please don’t beat me up,’” he chuckled, highlighting the warm rapport that defined their collaborative spirit.
Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD features a star-studded lineup including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. Set for release on June 27, 2024, the film promises to captivate audiences with its grandeur and innovative storytelling.
