In a major milestone for Telangana, tenders have been issued for the construction of the Hyderabad Northern Regional Ring Road (RRR), marking a historic day in the state’s development.
Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy described the occasion as a “golden day” in Telangana’s history, crediting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his persistent efforts alongside his own to make this long-pending dream a reality.
The RRR project, divided into five packages, aims to construct a four-lane greenfield road across 162 kilometres at an estimated cost of Rs 7,104.06 crore. The project is expected to transform Telangana’s infrastructure, providing a massive boost to connectivity and economic growth.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) floated the tenders on December 27, 2024. The last date for tender submission is February 14, 2025, at 11:30 am, with the tenders set to be opened on the same day.
The project involves a construction timeline of two years and a maintenance period of five years for all five packages.
Minister Venkat Reddy said that while the RRR was proposed in 2017, the negligence of the BRS government delayed the project. “After assuming office in December 2023, I have tirelessly worked for the RRR project,” he stated.

Venkat Reddy mentioned holding several meetings with district collectors to resolve land acquisition issues and collaborating with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to expedite the process.
The Minister acknowledged the proactive role of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who, understanding the state’s financial constraints, assured that utility charges would be borne by the central government.
Venkat expressed gratitude for this support, adding, “If the previous government had issued the required utility charge letters earlier, the RRR would have been completed by now.”
Calling the RRR a “super game-changer,” Venkat Reddy said the project would play a critical role in Telangana’s development, ensuring a bright future for the state’s children. “While the ORR changed Hyderabad’s connectivity, the RRR will redefine Telangana’s growth story,” he remarked.
The Minister concluded by emphasizing that the Congress government achieved this milestone within one year of coming to power, demonstrating its commitment to the state’s progress.
