The BJP strongly condemned the high-handedness of the police who arrested BJP workers on Wednesday night.
The BJP’s official state spokesperson, NV Subhash, said that many BJP leaders were put under house arrest on Thursday when they decided to visit Batasingaram village to inspect double-bedroom houses.
In a statement, Subhash said that hundreds of party workers including leaders were arrested before they could reach Batasingaram village.
He said that the KCR government is trying to suppress the opposition who have a democratic right to visit any place or inspect any project being executed by the BRS government.
He said the police stopped state BJP president Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy near Tukkuguda village when he was on the way from RGI Airport to Batasingaram to inspect the double-bedroom house project. He accused the police of functioning like pawns in the hands of BRS leaders.
Subhash demanded the immediate release of party leaders and activists arrested on Wednesday night.
He said the police stopped BJP leaders as the government fears that the substandard construction of the double-bedroom houses would get exposed.
