BJP demands holding of local body polls

Must read

BJP Rangareddy district executive committee member Matham Rishikesh has strongly criticised the Congress government for its inaction regarding local body elections. The inaction on the part of the government has pushed the governance into disarray. He demanded immediate elections before the situation worsened further.
Speaking on the issue, Rishikesh pointed out that while the government aggressively prepared for general elections well in advance, it has been stalling local body elections for over a year since the terms of sarpanches and other local representatives ended. He expressed concern that Gram Panchayats, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs), and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) are suffering due to the prolonged delay.
Highlighting the dire consequences of the government’s inaction, he alleged that several contractors and sarpanches had resorted to suicide due to financial distress after not receiving payments for completed works in Gram Panchayats and municipalities.
The BJP leader urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Chief Secretary, government officials, and District Collectors to take immediate steps to conduct local body elections without further delay.
