BJP gets 182 applications for tickets on day 1

The BJP has received 182 applications from ticket hopefuls for the Telangana Assembly elections on the first day for submitting applications, that is, Monday.

The first application seeking a ticket came from the Secunderabad Assembly constituency. Ravi Prasad Goud filed his application seeking a BJP ticket from the Secunderabad constituency.

Former Hyderabad Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy and former MLA Jayasudha are in the race for a BJP ticket from Secunderabad.

The second application was from one Jagdeesh Prasad Shiv Shankar seeking a ticket for the Jangaon Assembly constituency.

The BJP asked ticket applicants through its application form whether they have criminal cases and details of the punishments candidates had. The party also sought details about the date of primary BJP membership the candidate took and when he joined the BJP and details about contesting previous elections and its results.

The party also sought details from candidates regarding whether they have held any post in the party or not. The party also sought details about their social media accounts and other details in its application.

The party will accept applications till September 10 and will check out all applications in three phases by taking up screening at the district, state and Central levels.

Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy said the party will appoint a committee to examine all the applications. The party appointed former MLC Magam Ranga Reddy as in-charge at the applications counter.
