Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) chairman Y Satish Reddy on Friday accused the BJP-led Central government of conspiring to impose Hindi on the Southern States. He asserted that such imposition of Hindi would be accepted.
In a press statement here, Satish Reddy went at the Narendra Modi government hammer and tongs by saying that dictatorial rule was prevailing in the country. The Centre’s totalitarian rule even surpassed Hitler’s repressive regime.

He further said that the conspiracy to impose Hindi was aimed at enhancing the dominance of the North. He ridiculed the Centre for changing of nomenclature of the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Indian Evidence Act in the bill introduced in Parliament. The English names were sought to be changed into the Hindi language as Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarika Surksha Sanhit and Bharatiya Sakhsya. This showed the Centre’s attempt to impose Hindi on the Southern States, he said.

“This approach encroaches on the States’ rights and undermines principles of federalism. It seems like a conspiracy by the Narendra Modi government to suppress South India’s identity and richness of South Indian languages,” he pointed out. The central government should remember that attempting to impose Hindi through coercion could lead to a resurgence of the anti-Hindi movement witnessed in 1965.
