YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC and former minister Botcha Satyanarayana collapsed while addressing a public gathering during a party-led protest in Cheepurupalli on Wednesday.
The incident occurred during the ‘Vennupotu Dinam’ rally, a Statewide protest campaign launched by the YSRCP to mark one year of the NDA government.
The protest was called by party chief and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Satyanarayana, who oversees the Cheepurupalli Assembly segment, was speaking from atop a vehicle when he reportedly lost consciousness and slumped. Former MP Bellana Chandrasekhar and other party leaders present at the event immediately moved him to the YSRCP camp office in Garividi. A medical team was dispatched to attend to him.
Local party leaders opined that the incident may have been caused by heatstroke. For the past few days, day temperatures have been hovering around 35 to 40 degrees Celsius across many places in Uttarandhra districts.
