The Chief Ministers of both the Telugu states are now in election mode.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy are competing with each other in taking election-oriented decisions. All their decisions are taken keeping Assembly elections in view.
When elections are round the corner impossible decisions become possible. Both Chief Ministers are trying to attract all sections of society.
Telangana Chief Minister KCR is taking new popular decisions and trying to implement pending assurances given earlier. For example, regarding the waiver of farm loans, the BRS government was silent in the last four years. Now, KCR has directed officials to implement this promise fast.
KCR had said several times in the past that merging the TSRTC with the government is not possible. But suddenly KCR has taken a decision to merge the TSRTC with the government. The State Cabinet has already taken a decision regarding this and the Assembly has passed the Bill concerning this.
Meanwhile, AP Chief Minister Jagan is also taking some decisions which will have an impact on the people. By successfully implementing ‘Navaratnalu’ schemes in the last four years he has created a solid vote bank. In addition to this, Jagan is trying to attract some more sections.
Everybody knows that there is corruption at all levels in the government. For the rich corruption is not an issue. But for commoners, it creates a lot of problems.
So, to avoid corruption at the panchayat-level Jagan has decided to introduce the digital payment system.
The government thinks that every Rupee paid by the people as taxes will reach the exchequer and at the same time people will have a corruption-free system.
While KCR is concentrating on a hat-trick victory, Jagan is just focusing on retaining power.
KCR has set a target to win more than 100 seats in the Assembly elections out of a total of 119 seats.
Jagan has set a target to win all the 175 Assembly seats as indicated by the slogan ‘Why Not 175?’ While the Congress is going to give a tough fight to the BRS in Telangana, in AP the TDP is trying to give a good fight to the YSR Congress.
