Boxer Nikhat Zareen feted for winning gold in Elorda cup

GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose felicitated boxer Nikhat Zareen, who won a gold medal in the 52 kg weight category at the Elorda Cup competitions held in Kazakhstan. She was honoured during a courtesy call on Wednesday.
During the meeting in his chamber, Commissioner Ronald Rose presented her with a shawl and congratulated Nikhat Zareen and expressed hope for the future of boxing in Hyderabad. He emphasised the importance of Hyderabad excelling in boxing to enhance the city’s reputation and bringing honour to the country.
Ronald Rose said, “The government is actively supporting athletes and the GHMC is working towards developing the sports sector.” He also mentioned that a special summer coaching programme has been launched to enhance sports skills among boys and girls.
Former Director of GHMC Sports Dr SR Prem Raj, former treasurer K Maheshwar, president of Telangana Boxing Association Baburao Sagar and others participated in the programme.
