Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao directed officials to work towards achieving the target of cultivating oil palms on one lakh acres by March 2025.
He also issued orders to speed up the implementation of farm mechanisation and drip irrigation schemes.
Tummala held a review meeting with state officials at the secretariat on Tuesday regarding the implementation of horticulture, agriculture and marketing schemes and the performance of agriculture department officials. Tummala also issued important instructions to officials.
Meanwhile, the officials submitted several reports to Tummala regarding the progress of schemes. After examining them, the Minister ordered steps to provide more benefits to farmers this year. Clear instructions were issued to support farmers by providing them farm machinery and drip irrigation equipment.
He made it clear that action should be taken to increase yields by helping farmers and that special attention should be given to the strengthening of basic cooperative societies.
The Minister told officials to prepare plans to fully utilise every rupee given by the Centre to the agriculture sector and that the mistakes of the BRS government should not be repeated.
He said the Congress Government stood by farmers by waiving their loans.
