Broadband connectivity to all panchayats in AP by March 2025

Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh FiberNet, K Dinesh Kumar, announced that broadband services will be extended to all Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the state by March 2025. A review meeting on the progress of the BharatNet-2 project, funded by Digital Bharat Nidhi, was held on Tuesday at the BSNL main office in Vijayawada.
During the meeting, Dinesh Kumar highlighted the progress of the BharatNet project in the state. He stated that the government aims to provide broadband services to all GPs in Andhra Pradesh by March 2025, with the work being carried out at an accelerated pace. He noted that over 15,000 subscribers have already been connected under the BharatNet scheme through FiberNet. By March next year, broadband connectivity will be extended to an additional 11,254 panchayats.
Dinesh Kumar also pointed out that Andhra Pradesh is the only state in the country providing broadband services to all panchayats under the BharatNet-2 project. He emphasised that the state government is taking swift steps to create digital panchayats.
The central government expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the BharatNet project in Andhra Pradesh. Sanjay Kumar Varshne, Deputy Director General of the Digital Bharat Nidhi, acknowledged the steady progress of BharatNet-2 in the state and assured full cooperation to achieve the project’s targets.
The meeting was attended by Digital Bharat Nidhi Director Harikrishnan and other officials.
