Shadnagar MLA Veerlapalli Shankar accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of misusing public funds under the guise of the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Speaking at a public event, he alleged that during the BRS regime, financial aid meant for farmers was misappropriated and even allocated to non-agricultural lands like trees, hills, and roads. He further stated that the people of Telangana no longer trust the promises and strategies of the BRS party.
MLA Veerlapalli Shankar emphasised that after the Congress party came to power, citizens in Telangana have experienced peace, equality, and freedom. He assured the people that the Congress government is committed to supporting farmers through loan waivers and initiatives like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bharosa for those actively engaged in agriculture.
He also criticized the so-called “Liquor Queen” of the BRS, who, according to him, exploited the state and is now trying to gain support with a new focus on Backward Classes (BCs).
He pointed out that BRS leaders have ignored the BC community for 10 years and are now raising slogans for political gain. He challenged the party to appoint a BC leader as its president or working president if they genuinely care about the community.
Adivasi State Coordinator P. Raghu Konkalla, Town President Chennaiah, and other prominent leaders were present.
